World record-holder Armand Duplantis will headline the Mondo Classic in his hometown of Uppsala, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting, on 6 February.

In a near repeat of the World Athletics Championships final in Budapest where he successfully defended his pole vault title, Duplantis will face a line-up which includes joint world bronze medallists Chris Nilsen from the United States and Australia's Kurtis Marschall and world fifth-placer Thibaut Collet from France.

The field also features fellow Americans KC Lightfoot and Sam Kendricks - third and fourth on the world outdoor all-time list with lifetime bests of 6.07m and 6.06m respectively - along with multiple major finalist Ben Broeders from Belgium and Norway's Pal Haugen Lillefosse, the bronze medallist behind Duplantis at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich.

Duplantis, who thrilled a capacity crowd last year by taking the victory for the second successive year with 6.10m clearance before attempting a world record of 6.23m, said: "Competing at my home indoor arena in Uppsala means something extra to me, as I always jump well here. The jumpers who participate in the Mondo Classic 2024 will be my competitors also at the Olympics in Paris later in the season."

The Mondo Classic is one of 46 World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver, Bronze and Challenger events scheduled to take place in Europe in 2024 in the build-up to the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow from 1-3 March. The full calendar (as of 24 November) can be found here

More details about streaming for the World Athletics Indoor Tour at these levels will be announced soon.
